Prior to your session, prepare a comfortable area to either sit or lay down. This may be on a couch, bed or a yoga mat on the floor.
We recommend wearing an eye mask to focus your journey inward. It is also beautiful to enhance your experience with essential oils.
We highly encourage the use of headphones to get the best music quality during your session.
To get the best results from our breathwork, we recommend doing 1 long breathwork per week, as well as 3 short sessions.
Breathwork and meditation have very similar mindfulness benefits. We love breathwork because it is engaging and you feel the benefits after only one session. Breathwork changes the state of your body, helps you to manage stress and anxiety, and allows for immediate feelings of well-being.

Our team has experimented with all the traditional breathwork styles, and packaged them into a method that is effective and enjoyable. Othership breathwork has immediate benefits, so you will end each session feeling amazing.
Our sessions are active, rather than passive - so you’re able to focus on the exercises rather than drift back into your stressful or distracting thoughts.
At Othership, the health and safety of our journeyers is our highest priority. We incorporate a strict sanitization policy and use an extensive filtration system, and chlorination system to sanitize the pools and ensure that we adhere to Health Canada’s regulations. Our pools are cleaned and maintained on a daily basis, and our waters are regularly tested manually.

We only ask that you bring a bathing suit and water vessel (no glass please). Onsite we provide towels (up to 2 per visit) and body wash in our shower amenities. We also have lockers available for day use.
To maintain the most hygienic experience for our Journeyers, Othership is a barefoot space beyond the changerooms. If you’d like to cover your feet, we have ice bath shoes at reception for purchase.

Sometimes it can feel like a challenge to complete a long breathwork session. But trust us - it's always worth it!
As a beginner, we recommend starting with a few shorter sessions to get familiar with our style and guidance.
It is common for your body to undergo physiological changes while doing breathwork; body temperature fluctuation, numbness and tingling in your arms and legs, tightness in your hands. Do not worry, this will all return back to normal as your breath does.
Our goal is that everyone can receive the full benefits from our style of practice, whether they have previous experience with breathwork or not.

We do not recommend practicing breathwork while pregnant, as some of the styles and holds might be dangerous for mother and baby.
Check with your doctor before you start a breathwork practice if you have a history of epilepsy or cardiovascular issues, including high blood pressure, or are currently taking antipsychotic medications.
Never perform breathwork while driving or in water.Breathwork has the potential to bring about intense feelings. Because of the strong physical and emotional releases that may arise, it’s not recommended for everyone. Please talk to your doctor before practicing.
Some types of breathwork can induce hyperventilation, which can bring on dizziness, chest pain, and pounding heartbeat.

Othership offers a performance sauna, private ice baths and social commons. We are home to Toronto's largest performance sauna made of Western Red Cedar. We have non-gendered changing stalls and washrooms as well as lockers for storing belongings during your experience.
The ideal way to utilize the healing benefits of our sauna + ice baths is to toggle between the polarities.
If you are new to Othership, try a Free Flow, and allow our experienced guides to offer 1:1 support through your experience.
The Starter Circuit: sauna for 15-20 minutes, cold plunge for 1-3 minutes, then relax in our tea room for 10 minutes. Continue to toggle between hot + cold + relax for maximum results. Know that there's no right or wrong way to go about hot + cold therapy so experiment and keep it fun.

Traditionally, saunas and bathhouses have been used for communal health and healing in a social setting.
We’re here because we feel a connection to something beyond ourselves. The word alone - broken up - is really a universal truth: all one. We encourage you to come alone or with friends as our space is motivated by the mission to create connection for a disconnected world.
You don’t need to whisper, but please be mindful of others' experiences. It’s ok to strike up conversations with like-minded journeyers, but this is a flirt-free facility. While we encourage community and interaction, this is no place to hook-up. Please also remember to leave your cell phones in the lockers.

Our cold plunge pool ranges from 0°C to 4°C and our sauna temperatures can range anywhere from from 60°C to 100°C with humidity ranging from 0% to 20% but average 75°C to 85°C during our social hours.
WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DISCUSS ANY ISSUES WITH YOUR HEALTH PROFESSIONAL. If you suffer from a cardiac condition, high or low blood pressure, or have a history of fainting, our facilities should only be used with a physician’s approval. All lost and found items are donated to a charitable foundation every two weeks. If the post-sauna bliss hit too hard and you left something behind, reach out to our crew and we'll keep it safe for you.
